Boston: Go ahead and take a bow. April 24, 2007

Oh Boston.

Dear, dear Boston.

Over three nights: your weather got Springlike, you killed the Yankees, got to witness Joe in spandex (from which we’re all recovering), and had some quality time with Bob f*in Saget.

Oh yeah. Your contributions also allowed the Greater Boston Food Bank to be able to distribute over $6000 worth of food to their member agencies. SIX. THOUSAND. DOLLARS. That’s not even mentioning the few hundred pounds of non perishable food you brought.

We knew you’d come through. Thanks for making a G Homecoming weekend so special for people who weren’t even there. You rule.

Tour runs through this coming Sunday. We’re pretty sure we’re looking at beating our goal of allowing Food Banks to distribute $50,000 worth of food JUST from CCT 2007.

We’re looking at YOU to make sure we meet that goal!

See you on the road, and as always thank you for being a the biggest part of what we do….

Until the only thing left to hunger for is good music,

Wow. New York IS a helluva town. April 18, 2007

Dear NYC Beacon Theatre Guster and Format fans,

Just to put some perspective on the $700 you donated to the Food Bank for New York City allowed 3,425 meals to be provided to hungry New Yorkers.   Another way to look at it?  You just fed an elderly couple for 82 weeks: OVER a year and a half.

Two of the best nights on tour for the CCT family, without a doubt.  We certainly hope you all were having as much fun as you appeared to be.  You sure deserved it.

Dear BOSTON,

Are you going to let NYC get away with being the most RFAR has collected on tour?  NEW YORK CITY??? THE YANKEES???   Really, must we say more???

The Greater Boston Food Bank is waiting on another Boston victory.  Do them proud.

Until the only thing left to be hungry for is good music,

~RFAR

Guster fans are absolutely amazing…so far on tour, we’ve collected enough for benefitting food banks to distribute (hold on for this….) over $12,000 worth of food to their member agencies!!!   Can YOU help us reach our goal of $30,000 in distribution PLUS a TON of food???Some of you have asked for some info about just how that works, so here ya go:

Food Banks operate a cooperative buying program for their member agencies, where they purchase needed items in large quantities and then re-sell (and by sell, this means The Food Bank asks their member agencies that receive food to the support the Food Bank by contributing a very small shared maintenance fee–literally pennies on the dollar–for most of the food they receive) the food to the member agencies at this low cost.  Monetary donations to Food Banks are not used to purchase food, but to underwrite the costs of transporting, storing, and distributing donated food, which is why every dollar donated lets Food Banks distribute $9 to $15 dollars worth of food!

BY THE WAY:
Volunteers (2) are needed at the following shows:
4.18 Hampton Beach Ballroom
4.24 Water Street

Interested? Shoot an email to iwill@rockforaremedy.org.

Bring those cans, donate those dollars….feed your neighbors and get a chance to meet the Gs and The Format.  Awesome.Until the only thing left to hunger for is good music,
~RFAR

PS: WELCOME THIRD EYE BLIND to the RFAR family!

From the band themselves:

Third Eye Blind is teaming up with Rock For A Remedy at our Starland Ballroom show in Sayreville, NJ on April 12th and asking all fans to bring as many canned food items as possible to help fight hunger.  Everyone who brings a minimum of 5 items will earn the chance to receive a signed item by the guys.

All proceeds will benefit the Franklin Food Bank.

We’ve been slacking, and we’re so sorry.  There’s never enough time in the day out here to get the work done, have the fun and still check in.  We do hope you’ll forgive our….well, slack.  Pictures are coming too.  Looks like you’ll have to come back here tomorrow and check ‘em out.

We haven’t been slacking for the Food Banks, though.  Over 5 shows, we’ve collected the can and money equivilent of about 3500 pounds of food!  The goal was to double last year’s haul, and we are well on our way to triple the donations instead.  Maybe more.  It’s up to you guys.

Reverb is an amazing organization doing supremely awesome things, and we love love love being their partners in this effort.   They have been so kind to us, and we love them.  PLEASE check out their great work at www.reverbrock.org . Learn how you can get involved in greening the one world we have.

By the way, Guster and the Format guys know how to rock a room.  You should really come to a show and see us.  We’ll be the ones in the Village, making a difference in the lives of the hungry.  How lucky are WE?

All hands in,

RFAR
